Minimally invasive treatment with Waterlase.

Waterlase - the world’s most advanced minimally invasive dental laser.

Waterlase is the world’s most advanced minimally invasive dental laser technology. Here is what we use laser dentistry for.

Laser gum contouring

A “gummy” smile is a common condition - the short appearance of your teeth may be due to excessive gum covering them. Using laser dentistry, we reshape the excess gum to expose more of your natural teeth and give you a naturally broad smile.

Compared with conventional methods (scalpel, stitches or electrosurgery), laser gum contouring offers: a reduced need for anaesthetic - the technology is far less invasive, so many patients need little to none; less bleeding - the laser enables blood to clot as it works; faster healing - laser energy speeds up the healing response; less discomfort while healing - there is very little inflammation; and a reduced chance of infection - laser treatment is sterile, with less direct contact with the gum tissue.

Laser gum treatment

Those with pre-existing gum disease will know the discomfort that follows traditional gum treatment (periodontal therapy). Laser therapy does not cause swelling or excessive pain - you recover more comfortably and rapidly, without the same extent of sensitivity or receding gums. Laser gum treatment also helps eliminate bacteria and biofilm while stimulating regrowth and reattachment of tissue to the teeth.

Frenectomy

A frenum is a fold of tissue located in the middle of the upper lip and underneath the tongue. If the frenum in your upper lip attaches between your upper front teeth, it may cause a gap between your two upper incisors - braces may not close the gap stably while the tissue remains attached. If the frenum under your tongue is too tight, it may impair free movement, resulting in a tongue-tie.

A frenectomy releases the frenum to allow normal function. At our practice, frenectomy is performed with the Waterlase™, which eliminates the need for stitches and produces faster healing with much less post-treatment swelling and discomfort.
